Guillén de Castro tomó como fuente argumental de El curioso impertinente el Orlando furioso de Ariosto. Considerada una novela dentro del Quijote, también Miguel de Cervantes contó esta historia. Fragmento de la obra Jornada primera (Salen los Músicos y cantan este romance.) Músicos: "Amor que me quita el sueño para rendirme sin él, aunque me le pintan niño gigante debe de ser." (Abren la ventana y aparecen el Duque y la Duquesa de Florencia, Camila, dama, y un Camarero del Duque y salen por una puerta Lotario y Torcato, que son los que dan la música, y por otra puerta algunos que salen a oírla, y prosiguen los Músicos cantando.) "Los minutos de las horas he contado desde ayer, y con todo, a las estrellas les pregunto qué hora es. ¡Qué bueno va el pensamiento en castigo de que fue a tus ojos atrevido y a mis entrañas cruel! Turbado sube a tu cielo, y temeroso también, que el no acertar a subir es comenzar a caer. Favor, señora, piedad, pues en los aires lo ves, y un cabello de los tuyos su escalera puede ser. Abre esas puertas divinas, que bien puede merecer quien gradas de cielo pide que en grados de gracia esté." (Dicen los que oyen la Música.) Unos: ¡Oh, qué bien! Duque: Bien han cantado. Duquesa: Gusto me ha dado infinito. Lotario: ¿Qué decís del romancito?

El examen de maridos es una de las tres comedias de enredo de Juan Ruiz de Alarcón concebida en torno a una prueba: - El semejante a sí mismo, - La prueba de las promesas - y El examen de maridos.Estas obras se inspiran en La novela del curioso impertinente, de Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra, el ejemplo XI de El conde Lucanor, El mercader de Venecia, y Les vissionaries, de Jean Desmarets. La autoría de El examen de maridos ha sido muy discutida, aunque la mayoría de los críticos la consideran de Ruiz de Alarcón. Schon das Vorspiel zu diesem Band mit insgesamt acht Erzählungen macht neugierig. Darin berichtet Volker Ebersbach von „Don Quijotes Memoiren“, die allerdings rasch in Vergessenheit gerieten, als ein gewisser Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra einen ebenso meisterhaften wie weltberühmt gewordenen Roman über Don Quijote geschrieben. Das Erstaunliche an Don Quijotes eigenen Memoiren jedoch ist, dass er darin den wahren Grund für sein Leben und Kämpfen als Ritter von der traurigen Gestalt bekennt und dennoch bis an sein Lebensende über zu viel Unverständnis und falsche Interpretationen seines Handelns klagt. In den weiteren Texten mit Begebenheiten aus zwei Jahrtausenden geht es unter anderem um eine Legende aus dem alten Peru, um den Eid eines Sehers im Römischen Reich, um den Sohn des Kaziken, dem wir zuerst am 28. März 1573 begegnen und den wir am 28. Juni 1573 verlassen sowie um Adam im Paradies. Adam hat offenbar als einziger eine Schiffskatastrophe überstanden und genießt zunächst die vollkommene Einsamkeit, die er sich immer gewünscht hatte. Aber am anderen Morgen sieht er Lilith … Volker Ebersbach nimmt die jüdische Legende von Lilith, Adams erster Frau, auf und lässt vor dem Auge des Lesers mit spielerischer Leichtigkeit ein phantastisches Gebilde entstehen, in dem sich Realität und Wahn mischen. Menschheitsgeschichte als Kulturgeschichte, Bewusstseinsgeschichte, Geschichte des menschlichen Gewissens: In den teils mit bohrendem Ernst, teils mit listiger Ironie, stets kenntnisreich und einfühlsam erzählten Begebenheiten aus zwei Jahrtausenden erkundet der Autor für heute und morgen die Dimension der Humanität.

The couple divorced in 1962. He was drafted into the United States Army during the Korean War. He was awarded the French Prix Gutenberg du Livre in 1988 for The Memoirs of Christopher Columbus, and in 1997 he was awarded the "Life Achievement Award" by the Private Eye Writers of America. He also served on the board of directors of the Mystery Writers of America. He lived with his second wife Ann in Williamsburg, Virginia.

Todo empezó con un simple memorial de petición para imprimir un libro firmado por Miguel de Cervantes que fue elevado al Consejo Real de Castilla a través de la secretaría de Juan Gallo y del que el alto tribunal de gobierno empezó a ocuparse el 20 de julio de 1604. El consejero Gil Ramírez de Arellano fue quien recibió la encomienda de concederle, o no, lo que pedía y, en consecuencia, quien decidió que Antonio de Herrera realizase su censura, firmada por el cronista el 11 de septiembre y ahora por fortuna recuperada.El seguimiento de los distintos pasos por los que el manuscrito titulado entonces El Ingenioso Hidalgo de la Mancha se convirtió en las aventuras impresas de Don Quijote de la Mancha entre julio y diciembre de 1604 permite adentrarse en el proceso de aprobación de textos que era preceptivo para la impresión de un libro en el Siglo de Oro. Autores y censores, libreros e impresores, encomenderos y secretarios revelan las prácticas cotidianas en la concesión o denegación de licencias de impresión y en la fijación de la tasa que hacían una realidad concreta de la compleja normativa en estas materias acumulada desde tiempos de los Reyes Católicos. El conde Lucanor o Libro de los enxiemplos del conde Lucanor et de Patronio (entre 1325 y 1335), es un libro de relatosde don Juan Manuel. Se basan en fuentes orientales (sobre todo los apólogos del Sendebar y el Calila e Dimna) y cristianas (la Disciplina clericalis de Pedro Alfonso). Entre los cuentos destacan - el sueño mágico de don Illán, que inspiró una comedia a Juan Ruiz de Alarcón; - el de los tejedores que hicieron un paño invisible al rey, utilizado por Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra en El retablo de las maravillas; - y el del mancebo casado con una mujer brava, que inspiró La fierecilla domada, de William Shakespeare.Con la finalidad de que sus escritos llegaran a un público lo más amplio posible, la estructura de la obra es siempre la misma: el conde Lucanor siempre que lo necesita propone a su sabio consejero Patronio un problema moral o social. Este, con el fin de que sirva de guía al conde, lo resuelve mediante un cuento, fábula o ejemplo. La moraleja siempre aparece al final en dos breves versos, los cuáles reciben el nombre de dísticos. El autor era, además, consciente de que los textos tenían que ser amenos, lejos de los tratados complejos del mester de clerecía o de la filosofía clásica que se habían quedado recluidos, cada vez más, en las bibliotecas monacales. El conde Lucanor presenta una gran variedad temática; salvación del alma, vanidad, hipocresía, justicia, honra, riqueza y amistad son algunos. Todos se exponen con fines didácticos.

Na bibliotecznej półce leży pożółkły dokument. Jego autorem był Stanisław Juraszek. Został napisany w listopadzie 1943 roku. Ma on swoją historię i będzie o nim jeszcze mowa, gdyż stał się inspiracją do powstania tej książki. Z upływem lat idą w zapomnienie losy pojedynczych ludzi. Chciałoby się jednak wiedzę o nich zachować i przekazać potomnym. Przywołać wydarzenia z nimi związane i powiedzieć, że bez nich nie byłoby tego, czym w latach czterdziestych XX wieku zajmował się cały świat, a mianowicie sukcesu w zniszczeniu faszyzmu w Europie i japońskiego militaryzmu w Azji. To się udało dzięki gigantycznemu wysiłkowi milionów ludzi, szczególnie żołnierzy, którzy z bronią w ręku szli i umierali za wolną od przemocy Ziemię.
Wśród nich był Stanisław Juraszek, z wyboru nauczyciel i artysta malarz, a z konieczności oficer Wojska Polskiego. Poległ, oddał życie i przeszedł do historii, którą tworzył, a której karty powoli przykrywa kurz. Książką przypominam jego drogę życiową. Powstała, jako hołd oddany człowiekowi, który pozbawiony możliwości wyboru decyduje się walczyć w imię tych ideałów, które wpojono mu w domu rodzinnym, szkole, na studiach i w służbie wojskowej. Użycie w tytule frazy „zapomniany żołnierz” jest celowe. To skrót oddający prawdę o pamięci historycznej. Honoruje ona bezimiennie miliony osób, które zaistniały w tej walce, ale nie pochyla się nad pojedynczą mogiłą. Książka ma zachować w pamięci z imienia i nazwiska los pojedynczego żołnierza polskiego, który poległ na polu chwały i na trwałe zapisał się w księdze bohaterów. Niech będzie też skromnym liściem do wieńca, który winien stale spoczywać na jego mogile.
Według potocznego wyobrażenia bohaterska śmierć uwzniośla a polegli jawią się jako ludzie bez skazy. Staszek był jednak normalnym człowiekiem i zwyczajne ludzkie cechy jakie miał podkreślają najgłębszy wymiar jego bohaterstwa.Biografia ze swej istoty nie może być oryginalna. Stara się uporządkować daty i wydarzenia jeśli się zachowały, myśli i opinie bohatera oraz pamiętających go osób. Wszystko, czym dysponuję po dziesiątkach lat od opisywanych wydarzeń, to kilka informacji, ledwie garść zapisanych lub zadrukowanych kartek i nieliczne fotografie. I dlatego książka ma formę dwudziestu szkiców starających się opisać fakty, do których udało się autorowi dotrzeć.
Z dokumentów można wyczytać daty, miejsca, decyzje. Nie zawierają one tego, co im towarzyszyło - emocji obecnych w życiu bohatera książki. Dlatego szkicując etapy jego drogi sięgałem do wspomnień tych osób, których los był podobny. Praca nie powtarza tego, co już przewertowali i opisali historycy. Tylko w niezbędnym dla narracji zakresie wykorzystano znane historyczne, naukowe czy pamiętnikarskie opracowania.
Idziemy krok za krokiem śladami bohatera książki, stawiając je dokładnie tam gdzie i on je stawiał. Jedne są wyraźnie widoczne i ułatwiają opis, inne ledwie zarysowane, a jeszcze inne dostrzegamy jedynie oczami wyobraźni, która podpowiada jak mogły się toczyć jego losy w konkretnym czasie i miejscu. Tropy nie zawsze są wyraziste i dlatego szkice starają się powiązać je z epoką, w której przyszło mu żyć i walczyć. Tak naprawdę to, co można było zebrać o jego życiu to zaledwie okruchy, dlatego książka ukazuje go na tle historycznych obrazów, które przetaczały się na oczach jego i innych osób. Swego czasu Miguel Cervantes napisał: „Kłamliwych historyków należałoby skazywać na śmierć jak fałszerzy pieniędzy”. Przypomnijmy, że w jego czasach fałszowanie monety było zbrodnią. Kierując się tym przesłaniem, mimo często braku konkretnej wiedzy o Staszku nie opisuję jego życia kłamliwie.
Zarysowana biografia nie jest skończoną całością. Zostawia wiele otwartych kart, które z braku informacji nie zostały zapisane. Książka nie jest opracowaniem naukowym i aby stała się bardziej czytelna pozbawiona została odnośników bibliograficznych. Zawiera jedynie wykaz materiałów wykorzystanych bądź cytowanych w tekście, ale nie przywołuje ich w tych miejscach. Podobny zabieg zastosowano przy sięganiu po informacje zawarte w Internecie.
